A dynasty is on the edge of extinction.  One of their own members holds the key to a technology that can save or destroy them.  Will Lily Barrington choose to activate the technology, and use it against a family that has positioned her to fall?  And why have they turned against her?  What would the audience do, given the chance to get into the fight?

The Barringtons are a well-known dynasty. A lost blueprint of their genome surfaces at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. The dynasty, prolific over centuries for science designs, business smarts, and music talent posts big losses overnight. By dawn, Twitter, Facebook, and Internet sites leak news of a new technology, allegedly designed by one of the dynasty’s own members. The technology is primed to replace the members of the clan, by replicating their own divine familial gifts.

MEND™ is a virtual mirror of the dynasty’s work and survival gifts–MEND™ encryption is available to the public with the stroke of a key that opens a vault. The vault is in a church in a village square. It must be accessed by noon.  But, noon where?!

No one in the dynasty ever appeared interested in their map or where its real-time site was originally located–this night is a different story.  The clan, threatened by the release of MEND™, is on the “influence” move.

Dynasty members are about to be replaced unless they can come up with a solution to foil the public’s access. Divide and Conquer–a useful dynasty tool in the past, will not work with audiences who have smartened up by using GPS and other symmetry tools to find information in cities other than their own.

By putting together the map with the dynasty’s personality and ancestral information, a global audience is led to the original Barrington vault in Paris.  The voyage through THE SKELETON SCORE is guided by protagonist, Lily Barrington.  Used as bait to nail her family’s gifts, Lily begins her journey unaware of her role in the family fight. In a minute-by-minute countdown, Lily exposes a treasonous playing field; one with endless possibility for mining her broken family and their golden ancestry.

This blog is written in order to bring the reader into the puzzle of the MEND™ interface.  The familial design known as MEND™ unfolds clues to the characters over many centuries. Design elements link all the products together under one ownership roof! Found musical and science developments give the Barrington family knowledge, power, and lots of conflict to handle.

As the present day characters enter the 21st century they discover their almost magical evolutionary advantage.  The family’s need to update strategies in maintaining their business, changes abruptly as social goals and media become part of their dance. Issues around the balance of family power grows large and dire. Old territorial fights surface. One in-house crime in particular evolves into a present day central theme concerning the value to the deed to the land which the “original members” of the clan settled.  Who’s in and who’s out of that ancestry equation becomes pivotal to the understanding of the fight for MEND™ ownership and who’s voice is heard as the leader of the group. And why the Barrington by-laws include a hidden codex tag for each character in a hierarchy order that rises and falls in a pyramiding sequence. Tampering with any of the encryption mechanisms can cause a complete disaster, as threatens to happen in THE SKELETON SCORE, until the Matriarch, Rose Barrington is forced to give up many secrets around the Barrington inside world of power to the public.

A suggestion: read the blog posts from the bottom of the blog up. The development and usage of the dynasty’s artifacts and tools are made available to the audience along with the characters’ ability to act! Each character has a leitmotiv and a clockwork path of action. While the story can be read and enjoyed by anyone who loves a good thriller, the first out target age range is 15-35. That being said, folks well older than that are commenting by the day — the multigenerational generational saga has a big reach for ANYONE with curiosity on the “where we are headed in this brave new world” theme.

It is noon in Paris.  Odette Rae spins a clockwork of global tones and places them in a time sequence in her diary.  As she completes her last sentence, she is hit by a car.  It is six AM in New York.  The star Rachel Barrington’s body is found in her apartment.  Her home pad is sealed to the public.  In Washington, D.C., Lily Barrington awakens from a tumultuous night to light patterns swirling in the form of a palatial grid.  And in Boston, the church bells of Trinity Church are surrounding Copley Square with a secret message about the Barrington transfer of power.  Global audiences will soon have specific access points around the globe that link the tones directly to the action in the square.

Enter the Barrington dynasty men.  Jack Barrington, Odette Rae’s father, is lifting family secrets by decoding Odette’s handiwork.  Jack is plagued by divided allegiances to family members.  His act of theft is a direct cause of his attraction and desire to please his mother’s British cousin, Charles Hobbes.  Charles has a big debt to settle with his French cousin, Rose Barrington.  He is not averse to using any means to getting what he wants, including using Henry Barrington’s unfinished invention, MEND™, and his wife, Lily, and daughter, Rachel–or any other human that crosses him and does not deliver access.  Charles works the globe with his partner in crime, the mother of Odette Rae, Marie Barrington, who has made her own bargains with both the men and women in this intricate allemande left, allemande right dance.

Charles knows that the secret to the wealth and power of the Barrington dynasty rests with the understanding and the completion of the MEND™ technology.  MEND™, as a manifestation of the Barrington’s divine origin and gifts, is meant to be used for neuroscience, education, entertainment, and the building of the global economy.  Our global audience and community will be up for quite a challenge.  Charles has no interest in helping any of the family, or any other participant but himself.  He knows that MEND™ has numerous chemical, biological, and physics applications.  Charles and Marie have elaborate plans to foil MEND™ access to any other member on the planet, and use these applications for their own means.

On the same day that the smart-ass kid, Odette Rae, is inscribing data in her diary, the performing giant of the Barrington dynasty, Rachel Barrington, gets on stage to launch her CD-gone-gold.  Rachel, a Hollywood icon, is oblivious to her family’s shenanigans and how her family uses her performance and recording earnings.

Rachel’s CD has a fabulous and tuneful melody on it.  Family and fans alike have been clamoring to hear a new and updated rendition of this melody.  And this is the night of all nights.  Unbeknownst to Rachel, she will receive a message from her grandmother, the family matriarch, about how to arrange this melody for her global audience.  This hidden arrangement is meant to unlock the whereabouts to the original score of the Barrington dynasty and give more power to people outside of the Barrington fold.

The matriarch, Rose Barrington, is about to retire and turn over her power.  A-list audiences from around the world are in attendance.  But before the night is out, Rachel’s coveted CD is pirated and Rachel is found murdered.  Some family members are threatened by Rose’s desire to disclose the secrets to their special power and trading worldwide.  While everyone is using the CD to try and find clues about Rose’s message, unlocking the different variations of the melody is a hard task.  What is known–only the matriarch’s arrangement of the melody yields the access code to MENDtm, the location of the family score, and the path of the family power.

Rachel’s original CD is located at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.  On the CD is the matriarch’s arrangement of the melody.  One person outside of the matriarch can identify this arrangement–the protagonist, Lily Barrington.  Why does it become Lily’s quest to find the contents of the diary of the child Odette Rae, and how that data maps out a time-sensitive hopscotch game along the ominous rue de vaugirard?

MENDtm is a mirror of the way the Barrington family was originally divined to operate.  Over the centuries, the family loses much of their internal capability, but gains prowess over many new technological feats.  In the 21^st century, a child by the name of Odette Rae Barrington is genetically recreated to restore, read, and direct the family’s musical and action cues as they appear on the global map and bring us to a new technological level.  When we meet Odette in chapter 2 of THE SKELETON SCORE, she is inscribing her diary with clues that reveal where the body parts of her historical counterpart were buried all along the Rue de Vaugirard.  It is on this day that the village square itself becomes a hidden screen with data relayed to the protagonist Lily Barrington in Washington, D.C.  The Barringtons are in the midst of a huge estate fight.  The data concerns important details surrounding the credits and debits of their affairs.  Their fight could become so charged that we could lose access to their original MEND™ gift.  It is this special interface that connects all of the products. MEND™ will allow the user to access the narrative and to follow characters and their plot lines in the story, growing his or her own universe as the Barrington voyage continues.

A Woman Of Amazing Grace — A Tribute to the life of Elinor Carolyn Bradley

Elinor Carolyn Bradley, known as Rev. Lyn, was a close friend and editor to my work for more than eight years.  Her death is a seismic moment in my life, and in the life of my work. Lyn’s contribution as a scholar, a wordsmith, a carrier of the holy spirit is irreplaceable.  All that is left for me in my overwhelming loss, is to bring forth her presence as it appears as a design in a series of books we mapped together.  

Lyn stood by me at every turn. She weathered my daily struggle with patience and calm.  

As a challenger and a person of science rigor, my attempt at narrating how a presence transforms and is guided by the holy sprit, was a messy process.  As I wrote, I lived in that daily chaos and sought to put order to it.  

One’s spirit, like a road has a memory and direction of its own, and though the force of this “spirit” is not easily known to us, we are known to it.   In the narrative we worked on together, THE SKELETON SCORE, it is the knowledge of self and the uncovering its mysterious power that pushes the characters forward as they make music, words and acts, that drive them as a family and us as their audience, through a divine world where we all interact, and affect the lives of others.  

What made Lyn’s spirit holy is how she lived her life, how she affected others.  She earned every moment of her amazing life here on earth.  No words can convey her absence.
